It's home to Urris this weekend for the senior and reserve team as we close in on the end of the league. The lads will be hoping to make home advantage count this Sunday (23/10/2011) to consolidate their position at the top of the league table. Throw in for the reserve game is at 1:30 p.m. while the senior game gets underway at 3 p.m.
The other games in the league all take place on Saturday with the following teams in action: Burt v Carndonagh Downings v Naomh Colmcille Milford v Buncrana Naomh Naille v Aodh Ruadh The senior team suffered only their third defeat of the season today in Ballintra. In a game of two halves the visiting team began well and built up a healthy lead by half time, leading by 0-06 to 0-01. Naomh Bríd came started the second half strongly narrowing the margin to two points with ten minutes remaining. The critical score was the goal to send the home team into a one point lead, one which they would not relinquish. They added on a further four points to win by five in the end. The home team certainly adapted better to the heavy conditions in the second half but with three home games to come, Naomh Muire will be looking to finish the league strongly.
The seniors and reserves are in action in Ballintra this weekend as they take on Naomh Bríd on Saturday. Naomh Bríd have three home games remaining and will be looking for maximum points following their defeat at the hands of Burt in their last game. Following the late cancellation of last weekend's game, Naomh Muire will be eager to take to the field and will also be looking to get something from this game to consolidate their position at the top of the league. As with all games in this division their will be nothing easy and our lads will have to apply themselves well to take the points.
The reserves get back to league action following their ventures in the championship with throw in at 15:45, followed by the senior game at 17:15. Results from today's games in division 3 are as follows:
Carndonagh 1- 09 Downings 1- 04 Milford 2-7 Urris 1-12 Burt 1-06 Naomh Bríd 0-05 The other two scheduled games were called off St. Nauls v Aodh Ruadh Naomh Colmcille v Naomh Muire The updated league table is shown below. The division 3 league games in Newton have been called off due to a waterlogged pitch. (08/10/2011)
