Played on a lovely evening in Mullach Dearg the home team had plenty of possession from early on but the score remained tight as the number of wides began to mount. In what was a tough and indeed tense match the teams went in at half time with just three points seperating them: HT: Naomh Muire 0-05 Downings 0-02. The second half started like the first with sides swapping scores and again Naomh Mhuire playing well on approach play but not finding the scores. With ten minutes left the scores remained with only two points apart before a purlple patch of scores by Naomh Muire and superior fitness saw 1-5 scored in 8 minutes. That was enough to finish off the visitors and see the lads secure yet another two points. A win is a win and an 8 point win against a team as tigerish as Na Dunaibh is still a good result. 1.SEAN GALLAGHER 2.ROBERT O'DONNELL (1-0) 3.THOMAS DUFFY 4.DAN GALLAGHER 5.BRIAN GILLESPIE 6.SEAMUS FERRY 7.ADRIAN O'GARA 8.DARRAGH WHITE (0-02) 9.OWENIE MCGARVEY 10.OWEN GRANT (0-01) 11.PADRAIG MCCAFERTY 12.HARRY HARDEN (0-02) 13.SEAN YANK BOYLE (0-01) 14.JOHN PIDGEON (0-01) 15.TOM MCHUGH (0-04) 16.SEAN POINT FOR FERRY 17 SEAN SEAMUS BOYLE (0-01) There will be an under 10 blitz this Saturady in Dungloe. With the weather good for the weekend, a good day is in store for our under 10 teams. All players are asked to be in Dungloe for 10.30 as games will start at 11am sharp.
The senior team will play their next league game in the banks this weekend where the opposition will be Downings. Please note that there will be no reserve game as Downing's reserve team are in Championship action. Please note the revised throw-in time: Saturday at 4pm (23/07/2011). Downings are one of the only teams to take points from Naomh Muire this season and as the league table proves there are no easy points to be had in this division. All teams visiting the Banks will up their game as they pit themselves against the league leaders. Naomh Muire will be looking to maintain their 100% home record this season and will be ready for a tough encounter. With the league table so close at the moment all points gained are vital and so Naomh Muire will be hoping to make full use of home advantage. Throw-in time again....is at 4pm on Saturday. The club is currently formulating a new ten year plan. As part of this we are seeking input from members of the public. This consultation phase is for all past and present players, officials and supporters as well as anyone from the community either resident here or away from home. Following wins over Red Hughs and their excellent win over Fanad Gaels in the quater finals, the ladies are now up against Naomh Conaill in the championship semi final. This is fixed for Wednesday 27th July in Dungloe @ 7.30 p.m. Please come out and suppor the ladies. Go raibh maith agaibh. The U-16 Division 1 final replay against Aodh Ruadh has now been moved to Monday 25th July. The game will now take place in Dungloe with a throw-in time of 7:30 p.m. Please come out and support the lads if you can. Following the successful coaching week held in July, the Naomh Mhuire Bord na nÓg will be holding a 2nd coaching week from Tuesday August 2nd to Friday August 5th. The Bord na nÓg want to keep improving the quality of coaching during the week as we feel this is important in the development of our young players of the future. Throughout the week there will be qualified coaches from throughout the county brought in to work with the players. We also hope to have 3/4 county players at some stage during the week depending on the progress of the county team and when they are playing. The coaching will begin each day at 11am until 3pm with the emphasis on the skills of Gaelic Football. The camp is open for all children between the ages of 5 and 14. The cost is 30 euro per child or 50 euro per family. Each person who completes the week will receive a certificate and a leather gaelic ball. All profits from the week will go to the Bord na nÓg and directly back to the underage teams. For more details contact Gary on 0863546193. The under 14 boys travelled to Dungloe on Wednesday evening and came away with a victory. Good performances from Daniel Devlin, Cormac McDevitt, Dara Boyle, Jack Boyle and Darren Sweeney for Naomh Mhuire. Well done to all involved for all their hard work and training throughout the year. A win in Division 1 is worth more than winning 20 games in Division 2 and there is now a platform for the boys to build on for the rest of the year and also when they move up to under 16 in a couple of years time. Keep training lads and more wins will come your way. |
