Congratulations to Mullach Dubh Band on their acheivement of winning 7 all-Ireland titles in a row in the senior flute band section of Fleadh Ceoil na h-Éireann in Cavan on Sunday. Quite a good few of our girls and lads are members of the band. Maith sibh.
Many thanks to all those who attended the Big Sports and Fun day in the Banks yesterday (19/08/12). A huge thank you to all those who helped make it a great day.Well over €2,000 was raised for the upcoming floodlight , changing room development and ongoing coaching and development work with a series of great events from Hammering the nail, washing machine challenge, Poc Fada, Kick Fada, Chicken poo,Bouncy Castles, Cycling etc. Donald had a club gear retail unit which did great trade pulling in the euros for underage funds, the ladies had buns cakes and tea and worked hard throughout, Kevin White had the dartboard challenge, JC had his roaster primed and Club members and their families were out in numbers having the craic and throwing in their support. Stall and event of the day had to be Nicole and Brian's Bondi Beach Burger Bar Bonanza which sold out of both Hot Dogs and their hand made gourmet burgers made of corn and hops fed prime beef of Doire na Mainsire steak and Ballymanus Hot Dogs. This alone took in over €600 and the young Ranafast couple scooped best stall and best dressed on the day. Great work. Overall a great day in the Banks and although the rain meant that the Chicken poo event was transferred indoors to the Excel arena and the Beach volleyball ladies match between Brazil and Bunaman was defered to next year ....it was a great days craic....Maith Sibh uilig. Come along to the Banks tomorrow (19/08/12) from 1pm where there will be a big fun day for all the family. Car stickers will be available to purchase there tomorrow. Both teams were defeated this evening in the banks. The reserves fought hard while playing most of the game with 14 men but lost out by two points in the end. In the senior game the visiting team got off to a flying start getting 1-02 on the board before Naomh Muire got into their stride. With both teams exchanging points then Urris maintained their lead. Naomh Muire had reduced the margin to just two points but on the stroke of half time Urris got their second goal to leave six points in it. The heavens opened which made playing conditions difficult and although the home team out-scored Urris in the second half the Clonmany men had enough to see out the game. Reserves : Naomh Muire 0-09 Urris 1-08 Seniors: Naomh Muire 0-11 Urris 2-08 Both Seniors and Reserves will be in championship action at the Banks this weekend. The action gets underway with the reserve game at 6:00pm followed by the senior game at 7:30pm.
