The under 12 boys began training outdoors today at the training pitch in the banks. They will continue training at the following times over the coming weeks. All players born in 2000 and 2001 welcome.
DAY WHERE TIME Tuesday - Training in the sportshall at the RCS - 7pm - 8pm Saturday - Training at the banks - 11.30am - 1.00pm The under 10 and under 12 teams are going to Dublin on a club trip on Saturday March 24th. We will be taking part in a blitz hosted by Ballyboden Wanderers with whom we have a long friendship with. We have not been to Ballybden in a long time and we are glad to get this opportunity to visit. The blitz will include other club teams from Dublin. We will then attend the Donegal v Dublin national league match under lights at Croke Park. There is also a hurling game taking place in Croke Park that evening between Dublin and Tipperary. We return home after he match.
The club will cover most of the costs involved but we require a payment of e10 per child to assist. This covers return bus and match ticket. A small amount of pocket-money only is advised as Ballyboden will provide after-match refreshments. We will have a stop in Monaghan on the way up where players are asked to bring a packed lunch. We will stop in Monaghan again on the return journey at McDonalds. The bus will leave Annagry car park at 8am and we expect to return at 1.30am approximately. This is a great opportunity to recognise all the players at this age level who have been working hard during the winter on their skills. Their season will commence in the coming months and days out like this are an important part of their progress. We encourage as many players and coaches as possible to go on the trip. We will take names this coming week at training or contact the following. At under 12 level this year we have entered two teams, one team at division 1 and one team at division 2. This shows the great effort that has been put into under 8s and under 10s over the last 4 years and we hope this continues. The under 16 league fixtures have changed slightly with the first 3 games now all away from home and the last 4 games in the league at home in the banks. A tough start for this team on their travels. Fixtures can be viewed on the Bord na nOg section of the website.
The minors will have a game against Termon this Sunday morning. The game is provisionally fixed weather permitting for the banks with a throw-in time of 11am. This will be a good challenge as Termon are one of the strongest teams in the north, finishing only behind St.Eunans and Cloughaneely in their last league campaign at this age group in 2010. There will be training at the pitch in Carrickfinn at 5pm on Friday evening.
The under 16 boys will train at 4pm in Carrickfinn on Friday also. The under 16 begin their div 1 league campaign with an away game against Ardara on Sunday March 11th. The under 14 boys will begin training this Saturday at the banks at 4pm. This is the 1st session of the year and all players are asked to attend. The league starts on Wednesday 4th May. The Feile takes place in the banks this year where we host Killybegs, Kilcar and Naomh Columba on Saturday March 24th.
